Jesus’ Wonderful Ministry

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
— Luke 4:18–19

Fun in the Sun with the Bro

September 29, 2008 2 comments

God’s blessed me with my younger brother.  He’s my best friend and also my alter-ego.  We had some breaking conversations this weekend, and I’m so blessed by his love and passion for the Lord.  May God continue to bless Him as he’s learning so much right now.

We went to church, got a chance to practice worship (a blessing despite long since it’s been awhile since the last time), had some boba of course, and really yummy banh canh.  Then I took him back to Bart.

I got to catch up with a few friends who happened to be online late tonight.  Many have prayer requests that I shouldn’t forget to pray for tonight. I slept really early in the evening and am now wide awake.  It’s a been a really fun but tiring weekend. =P

Some word from Pastor Tim’s sermon that stood out.  We were studying Ephesians 3:10-20 about having the right type of passion for the Lord.  Two checks: if your passion glorifies god, and if your passion serves others.  I really have to keep this in mind and be mindful of all things I do if it is pleasing to God and beneficial to people.  Some of the conversations I’ve had with my best friend and my brother this weekend has really gotten me to think.  My friend reminded me to take my past memories and try to learn from them.  For now, I’m trying to still wrap my hands around my past and see what and how I can learn from it.

Sun. Brother. Friend. Boba.
Makes a frog happy. =D

Hamtaro

My friend from Vallejo came all the way down to visit! =D And my bro came home! =P We just hung out yesterday and today ate cha’o (vietnamese porridge), got boba and frozen yogurt, and then went to Great Mall. We just walked around, and it was so crowded. We had ba’nh xe`o afterwards. Yummy.

At night, we watched Vantage Point and Bourne Ultimatum. My brother, friend, and I stayed up until 2am to each make a fluffy hamtaro! =)

Is it one’s duty to judge
Focus on your decisions
And thank God for what he’s made.

Nose Bleed

September 26, 2008 Leave a comment

I got my first nose bleed a few minutes ago.  I’ve never had a nose bleed before. =(  It wasn’t that bad…I was just sitting down and then I brushed my finger at some water. There was blood all over the inner surface of my finger.  My brother is the one that gets nose bleeds all the time.  Not me. =P  I guess there’s Never never because God can surprise you and we are human…  I’m glad it wasn’t bad at all.  It stopped bleeding after I tilted my head and used some tissues.

Something exciting today.  I was in lab and was mixing some chemicals.  At first I checked all the test tubes and there was no reaction in any of them.  Then I rechecked them.  I pulled one up expecting a colorless no reaction and it looked like murky red poop!  I was so surprised that I couldn’t stop laughing.  I laughed on for five minutes because how could something that I carefully checked turn from colorless to murky red poop water.

Hehe, that was embarrassing.  I couldn’t stop the laughter.  In other highlights, I’m listening to a month-long sermon series by MacArthur on Creation.   It’s very good, and I recommend it to you on Grace to You! =)  Have a great day!!!

Foodie: chicken! and more chicken!

Realizations, I run away from
Are you really true or a tool of deception?
I can’t determine the situation
Connecting the dots brings pain and weary
Recalling the thoughts, clearer each day
It makes so much sense
Has logic deceived me?
I don’t want to accept the conclusion.
Isn’t the past the past?

Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:13-14

Reconnecting

September 25, 2008 Leave a comment

During the past few days, I’ve been able to reconnect with long lost friends in California, to Texas, and all the way to China.  It’s such a good feeling!  I’ve found my childhood bestfriend via email.  I’ve completely lost in touch with her because she doesn’t use a phone anymore and moved away. Somehow she responded to my last email. =D  God is wonderful!

It feels good to just catch up from where we all left off. =)  I can’t wait to meet all of them soon in person though.  I guess skies are clearing up, metaphorically.  And I had an awesome phone call with a grant today! Detail tba later! =)

OH!!!!! The highlight of my day was visiting Mission de la Casa, a nursing home.  Wow, I was so surprised to see how old the people were in this big house.  They are very cute though, just like kids.  We sang worship songs for them and showed them some love before visiting hours ended.  I really want to come back and hold some shows and plays for the old people.  I’m sure they’ll love it.  There are so many Vietnamese old people there.  The lady we were visiting was a pastor’s wife. =)  Next time, I’ll take a picture with her. =D

Counting Days

I’m catching the tail end of Chicken Little on TV, and I can’t believe that I haven’t seen it yet.  I usually see most Disney movies.  Maybe next time they’ll show it again. I had a really good quiet time in the backyard today but then people were moving stuff, so I was a bit interrupted towards the end.  All in all, it was great to find that place, I just need to go there during the morning so no one will be walking around.  I also somewhat cleaned my room to prepare for some cramming and Chinese review.  Oh! I listened to MacArthur today about God’s perspective on work.  Yay for time.

Foodie: chapchae, canh rau, mam =)
